Index is building a network of Nodes: loosely connected, highly aligned physical spaces for gathering across the world.

Rather than franchising our space in other cities, we empower local operators to open spaces that serve the needs of their local communities.

Though they may differ in use, all Nodes exist in service of their members in a transparent and non-extractive way. Locally-minded but globally aware, every Node is made by those who use it, and helps to broaden the network's planetary community of communities.

A Node can be any space that provides a needed service to its local community. It can be a coworking space, an event space, a cinema, a bathhouse, a hotel, a retreat center, a community garden, a childcare center, or all of the above. All Nodes share the same core values, and offer access to members of Nodes elsewhere.

Nodes can be anywhere in the world — in fact, we have a strong preference for nodes outside of the USA so as to broaden our impact and help serve our global community.

Every Node shares the same set of core values, while having the freedom to bring them to life in their own ways.

Other than our shared values, each Node is independently owned and operated, and owes no obligation, financial or otherwise, to the rest of the network.
